DIY Father's Day Cards

This Friday, I thought it would be a good idea to make some Father's Day cards with the girls that I babysit. 

This was such a fun, simple project that didn't break bank. And because I had a bunch of scrapbooking materials that I've acquired over the years, it was basically free!

I'm really happy with what I came up with considering most of my scrapbooking paper is (unsurprisingly) very girly so I just had to share. And of course, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make a pun!

The Card + The Gift(s):

With the lack of "manly" scrapbook paper, I had to get creative. I came up with a chalkboard look using the only dark colored sheet I had and a wood grain piece of paper. 

I then added some leftover stickers from a quote book that I made as a teacher's gift my senior year to add a more personal touch. My dad loves to fix stuff up and he's trying to get back into biking so the stickers were perfect!

Like every other cheesy gift card, I made sure that the message inside and the front went together. What better way to do that? With puns, of course! The card says...

"Thanks for taking us along the wonderful rides called adventures and for always being there to fix us up. We love you! Hope it's a great and wonderful Dad's Day!"

Finally, I tied it all together with some gadget-y tools from Brookstone that I know my dad will for sure use!

And here are the cards the girls made. Like I mentioned, most of my scrapbooking stuff is pretty girly but the girls made the most out of them and made it their own. 

​Plus, it's the thought that matters anyway so I'm sure their dad will still really enjoy them!

So I hope this project, as simple as it is, inspired some of you to think outside of the box and to find a use for things you already have.
