For a lot of people, college means living away from home- and this can be pretty tough whether your 2 or 20 hours away. To ease the transition, it is always helpful to have a reminder of home and a way to connect with friends and family. So one of my best friends and I made this set of grad gifts to give to our two closest friends last year. I recently found the pictures on my phone and thought it would make a perfect addition to my Grad Gifts series! Take a look below to see what we included! Pictures and Postage StampsNothing beats a nice set of pictures to bring to school and display in your new room. Even better if they're small so that you can have a bunch. These faux polaroids are the perfect memento to give to friends going off to college! I took some pictures throughout the years and photoshopped them into polaroid frames. These are great because you can put two on a normal 4x6 to get twice the amount of prints! It's thoughtful yet affordable- all it takes is a little bit of patience when you have to individually cut them out. We then included some postage stamps, cards, and some colorful pens for those times when you want to kick it old-school and send a nice handwritten letter. Plants in PotsThe last piece to our joint gift was a succulent/cactus. My best friend keeps a bunch and she thought that we should have one too. Plus, it's nice to have some living plants in an otherwise drab dorm room. We made smaller ones for our friends while we made mini terrariums for ourselves. It was a lot of fun! (And the perfect excuse to raid Michael's miniature section.) Here's both of them all together!
Some old gift boxes and ribbon in our high school's colors was the perfect way to tie-no pun intended- everything together. Hope this post have given you some gift ideas for the high school graduates in your life. Have a great rest of the summer and check back soon for more DIY dorm decor/back-to-school ideas!
